  The Blue House Cabin is described as a remodeled farmhouse nestled in the Ozark countryside and located past Jason Place Campground off Hwy KK on J Road. This cabin is advertised to sleep 8 and staff will inform you that it contains all the comforts of home except for towels. My girlfriends and I rented this cabin for our annual Ladies River Retreat on the Current River. I urge you to save your money! We made the assumption that a cabin rental of $505.00 for 2 nights would be comfortable, clean, and up to date. Sadly we were mistaken, the reality is far different. The Blue House Cabin, while nestled in the Ozark countryside, has NOT been recently remodeled. This dilapidated farmhouse is what I would consider a health hazard to humans. The first thing you notice upon arrival is that the exterior doesn't quite match the posted advertising picture, after you enter the house the smell of mildew and dirt are overpowering, not to mention the hint of urine scent in the back bedroom. The cabin has window AC units in each room, save the kitchen. The cabin is infested with mice, as evidenced by the mouse feces in the utensil drawers, on the bathroom floor, under the kitchen sink, etc. The cabin bathroom is an incubator for mold on both the walls and floor and at one corner the room seems to be falling into the crawl space below. The Kitchen has a stove that mostly works but when turned on high heat emits a terrible odor, there aren't enough eating/drinking utensils, various kitchen tools are lacking (can opener, wine bottle opener, cutting board, etc), and the refrigerator barely keeps your food chilled. Our experience with the bedding and bedrooms was equally disturbing; one room had dirty sheets soiled in animal fur/hair, the attached closet smelled of urine and the floors were covered in hair. Sheets and blankets smelled soured and dead bugs and lint littered the edges of each room. On the front porch we dodged dog feces that must have been left by a previous renters pet. There are numerous holes under the house, animals can find refuge through not only the holes in the the foundation but also via areas of rotten exterior siding. At night you can hear small animals scurry in walls and ceilings. I was deeply disappointed in the state of this rental cabin. Complaints were lodged and the owner refunded a small % of our bill but in my opinion this shack in the ozark woods is advertised inappropriately! Staff were helpful and apologetic but in all honesty they can't fix broken and years of zero maintenance in 48 hours. It is worth no more than $50 per night (generous on our part) and to be honest camping is far more luxurious and clean. If you seek a relaxing cabin in the woods, if you suffer from allergies, if you are looking for a clean home-away-from-home then this rental is NOT for you! The Current river is beautiful and certainly an Ozark's Treasure, I urge you to experience the beauty of this river but find lodging elsewhere. Another word of advice, Aker's Ferry shuttled us back to our vehicles and one my friends noticed that their Kayak had a split in the rear hull along the seam as if it had been dropped hard. She is unable to prove it was from poor handling from the Aker's Ferry staff but she knows it did not exist prior to them loading her boat. Stay in the Blue House at Your Own Risk!
